Literacy

Despite all the considerable programmes implemented by the Cameroonian State and other NGOs, the level of illiteracy in the Far North remains high, at 40% of the population in 2015 according to UNESCO, mainly among women. In order to contribute to the empowerment of Christian women and in particular widows, YALEF CAMEROON has set up a literacy programme. The objective of the latter is to enable them to express themselves fluently and to be able to read and write in French, and their local language in order to be able to read the Bible and share the Gospel around them with confidence and be able to interact freely in various aspects of their lives. There are currently 02 centres, in Kaele and Mora.
