YALEF CAMEOUN to support these women left alone, has set up socio-economic programme aiming at restoring their spiritual and social status through prayers, counselling, schooling of their children and relocation where needed, and economically through a microfinance program that lends them money at a rate of 0% to encourage them set up their own businesses and therefore gradually become completely independent. In addition, basic necessities are provided on a monthly basis to meet the family’s nutritional and clothing needs. Widowed women in this programme are all welcome to the literacy centres set up by Yalef Cameroon to equally learn to read, write and speak fluently as needed.
